The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is a standardized international exam conducted by the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES). It evaluates and certifies the Japanese language proficiency of non-native speakers.
The test is held twice a year (July & December) in many countries, including India, and is divided into five levels:
N5 – Basic (entry-level)
N4 – Elementary understanding
N3 – Intermediate communication
N2 – Upper-intermediate (work/study level)
N1 – Advanced (native-like proficiency)
Vocabulary (語彙)
Grammar (文法)
Reading comprehension (読解)
Listening (聴解)
Each level focuses on different depths of understanding and application in both academic and real-life situations.
